Island Base FM, Downtoplease and local youth create magic in Samoa with new single ‘This is Love’.

Written by on July 8, 2019

This is Love’, the first Island Base FM project of its kind – an International collaboration between local up and coming artists from Samoa and established RnB Soul group from Australia, Downtoplease – DTP.

Thanks to The Australian High Commission Samoa and Island Base FM, Downtoplease – DTP were in Samoa for just over a week with the intention of giving back to their home country and they did just that.

With 2 song-writing workshops facilitated by independent organisation Brown Girl Woke and mentored by Downtoplease members Peter, Deebo and TJ, the outcome ‘This is Love’ is a beautiful collaboration track that stands testament to the underlying raw talent of Samoa.

This project provided a platform for young artists – some of whom have never met or never even sang in front of a microphone before – to showcase their natural talents within a safe and encouraging environment with established professional artists.

The fire within these students has been reignited with hopes that they and all future aspiring Samoan artists pursue their dreams whatever they may be.

Big ups everyone!! This is only the beginning!
