Mind Food with Nerdy Absurdity

Nerdy Absurdity aka Matt Brown started his musical journey designing and building dj booths and stages for the underground psytrance scene, and within a couple of years he was djing for all of the psytrance events and festivals all over the North Island. This then grew into being a part of the underground DnB scene within Auckland, which then grew into doing decor and stage design for most of the events within New Zealand, including RnV, Aum, Dimension, Luminate, Earth Beat, Spirit Festival, and many more club events and renegade doofs.

Matt now produces music, music videos and documentaries, promotional content, and is one of the founding members and live in resident artists in a creative hub called SPACE. His show will be sharing music that has collected over the years, in the hopes of exposing people to new music, and to try and spread as much love and unity as possible.

Paper Air Wave with Ben Davis

Ben Davis has had an illustrious career in music for over twenty five years that spans DJing, record labels, production, radio shows and film making.

He began DJing in the mid-90s in Manchester and went on to play at venues that ranged from superclubs like The Ministry of Sound and the Hacienda to underground spots like Plastic People and The End plus he ran and resided at Manchester’ seminal house night, Robodisco. DJ experiences with his record box include open-air raves in Portugal, annual tours of NZ, fashion shows in Kuala Lumpa, Mafia run clubs in Moscow and playing to Albert Hoffman (the discoverer of LSD) in Amsterdam.

He co-founded Shaboom Records alongside Dick ‘Magik’ Johnson as well as the seminal paperecordings in 1994 that changed the face of house music and is still going strong today with over 300 singles and 50 albums to its name. There are also off-shoot labels Paper Wave and Paper Disco that pioneer leftfield sounds from across the spectrum from electronica and Balearic and disco to deep house bangers. Ben has made music under many different aliases including Del 5 (with Dick Johnson), Shaboom and the recent downtempo Stubb. He currently records as Flash Atkins, a tongue-in-cheek, down-on-his luck superhero who’s deep house and disco was a favourite of the late, great Andrew Weatherall. If that’s not enough, Ben also makes films for Paper Vision and his debut feature documentary ‘Northern Disco Lights – The Rise and Rise of Norwegian Dance Music’ gained critical acclaim on the film festival circuit, won the En Lefko Film Festival best music documentary and is currently streaming on Red Bull TV. He can be found on the globally syndicated radio show ‘Paper Air Waves’, a monthly musical adventure to the farthest flung corners of sound and music. From African psychedelia and Scottish folk to Detroit techsoul, Californian drone, Asian field recordings, Thai Funk and the deepest of disco, nothing and nowhere is left unexplored.http://paperecordings.com
