Ian Beatmaster Wright: Originally from the south of England, Ian Beatmaster Wright relocated to Auckland, New Zealand in 2012. Ian has been a hip hop, funk and breaks DJ for over 20 years. He’s been a DJ on Base since 2012; first rocking the Thursday night show ‘ILL BEHAVIOUR’, then moving on to host ‘Friday Drive’ and now the host of Base Breakfast bright and early every Mon, Tues, Wed and Fri.

Daria Carrothers: With a bright and inquisitive nature, Daria is from the small, slow-paced town of Whangaparaoa on the northern outskirts of Auckland. Daria is drawn to the people, community, and cultural history of music, to track by track understand the art through a zoomed out lens. Growing up on house classics Daria is all about music that makes you move and groove, with a focus on acid house and techno. During lockdown as a means to fight boredom, she joined the troves of other bedroom DJs. This drove her to seek out Base’s mentoring program where she learned the practical side of the radio industry and was offered an internship. Catch Daria Co-hosting with Ian Beatmaster Wright every Wednesday and Friday.

Chris Harnett (DJ Grassmouth): The first time Chris ever stepped in the BASE FM studio was to hand-deliver a bacon and egg pie to Breakfast Host at the time, Tommy Flowers, who had put out an urgent call over the airwaves for sustenance on one dusty breakfast morning. Twelve years later and Chris (aka Grassmouth) has finally elevated to breakfast host status, after DJing many various slots and styles. Catch Grassmouth every Thursday morning from 7:30-10 am on “In the Neighbourhood” and throughout the week dropping in on unsuspecting DJs with some talented tamariki that are keen to take their spot!
