EVENT: Māhorahora – Studio One Toi Tū Open Day (Saturday 16 July)

Studio One Toi Tū is opening the doors for a series of free Matariki events for all ages from the 13th to 16th of July. From poetry to potluck, Super 8 to Open Day there is so much to enjoy at your local Ponsonby art centre this winter.

Studio One Toi Tū opens its doors to the community for a day of creative activities including demonstrations, workshops, music, food, performances, kite making and much more.
Mahorahora brings urban eclecticism to the fore in a programme celebrating the diverse community at Studio One Toi Tu. Friends and supporters of Ponsonby’s local art hub are pitching in to create a line-up of free activities to showcase the range on offer in the iconic brick heritage building on Ponsonby Road.

Nga Rangitahi Toa returns to Studio One Toi Tu in a special video performance screening at the Mahorahora Open Day. Studio One Toi ū has been a base for the arts-mentoring and transition program, which connects well-known Kiwi talent with rangitahi who have been excluded from education.

#ScribbleAKL will be working their magic at Mahorahora with an interactive kite making project. These movers-and-makers have been active on the scene since 2011 with a growing programme of public events including mini golf at Silo Park and Dominoes project at Auckland City Limits festival in February.

Studio One Toi Tū will be keeping it local with Base FM on the decks and Supreme Coffee giving out free coffee. Puha and Pakeha will be on-site dishing out the kai while our team of tutors take you through art demonstrations where you can participate in a life drawing class or try your hand at the pottery wheel, a collective mural will also be on the wall for all to contribute to. Free fun for everyone at Studio One Toi Tū.
