CHAII ‘Digebasse (Enough)’
Written by Admin on March 13, 2019
This week’s Local Eyes is another visually stunning video from NZ-raised Persian rapper CHAII.
Self-produced and rapped in both English and Farsi she is rapidly gathering herself a strong following. ‘Digebasse (Enough)’ was filmed against the visually spectacular backdrop of Oman and is a statement is a statement of self-empowerment and homage to her Persian roots.
CHAII has been writing rhymes since the age of 11. Her musical influences range from Traditional Persian music, electronica and Hip Hop – all of which she draws inspiration from on to create her Music.
“My concept was simply a commute. A journey through places and people, spreading loving vibes. At the same time, putting a positive light on middle east. I was doing this in respect to all the underground artists who have to hide away because of their art. Covering up felt empowering and badass.
This song is very close to my heart and I hope it can be the chant and voice of people. Music is a universal language and I hope to spread that love, and make people dance, and say ‘enough’ to anything they want an end to. We have a voice, we have a choice.”
Local Eyes is a weekly segment on BaseFM focusing on New Zealand Music videos.
