DISCONNECTED VIBES with Shutta

Shutta was losing it @ a tender age to the early sounds of hardcore deejays such as Mickey Finn, DJ.Sy & Mc scratchmaster tekno, Easygroove the Techno Dread & other early greats such as the Ratpack, Topbuzz & Ellis Dee, good times!

This early grounding saw him absorbed into the fragmenting genres of late 90's drum n bass to become one of the co founders and resident deejay for the legendary "Freeform" drum n bass club night, hosting events that provided a platform in the South west UK for the then forward thinking sounds of crews such as Moving Shadow, Full Cycle, Metalheadz, Good Looking & 4Hero's mighty Reinforced records to name a few.
These years saw Shutta Djing with a number of prolific DnB artists including Klute, Bill Riley, Danny breaks, Paradox, Suv, Aquasky, Total science, etc. Highlights of this period also included warming up for electronic music legends the Orb & 808 state & a stint working for "Knowledge" Drum n bass magazine in bristol during their first annual DnB Awards.

Following the decline of Drum n bass into a formulaic pattern, Shutta drifted into the ruffer edge of UK 2step & speed garage, & after a brief dabble in London's broken beat scene became increasingly focused on the bass-heavy output of some former garage and grime producers who were releasing what would later become the worldwide phenomenom that is now "Dubstep".

Which comes full circle to present day, having represented his own "Waking the Dread" nights & "Subheavy" Soundsystem in the UK hosting artists such as N-type, Benga & Skream, Appleblim & Shackleton, Digital Mystikz & many other of the dubstep scene's keyplayers, Shutta now resides in Auckland holding it down for Dubstep Alliance, beatspeoplemovement & of course BASE FM.

Not limited purely to Drum n bass & dubstep Shutta listens to & appreciates everything & can hold his own over number of genres : hiphop/funk/soul to cutting edge forward thinking future dub, UK funky/ruff old skool uk garage, broken beat, early 90's jungle/hardcore, drum n bass, dubstep, dub techno, tech house/minimal weird electronica. etc.etc.!!
