Friday Midday - 2pm with DJ Paulie Walnuts

Paulie Walnuts injects some weirdness into your Friday lunchtimes on the Astro Travellin' radio show on Base, where he spins a collection of cutting-edge electronic beats and hiphop from around the world along with the occasional wander through the worlds of reggae, dub, funk, dubstep and drum'n'bass.
Born and raised in Rotorua, DJ Paulie Walnuts - aka Paul Walsh - made his radio debut on a Rotorua-based rock station in 1994. After moving to Wellington he became a regular DJ on Radio Active (1997-2002). As part of the Homebass Crew, along with legendary MC Imon Star (Rhombus / Olmecha Supreme), Paul played at a number of gigs such as The Gathering (98 - 01), One Love, Cuba St Carnival, Dark Forces and others.
From 2002, Walnuts spent four years in London where he played support slots for a number of touring Kiwi groups - the Black Seeds, Nesian Mystik, Scribe + P-Money. This also gave him the chance to play major London venues such as Fabric and Cargo, as well as playing at festivals and other gigs, boat parties and bars around London. You can currently catch him playing odd gigs around town, and at the Hallertau Brewbar every second Friday night.
