BEAT MERCHANTS have just announced their plans to close the Grey Lynn store in Great North Rd, and continue trading online / view-by-appointment type scenario. While it signals the loss of another independent record store in Auckland, they will still supply the community with graffiti art and music supplies. Below is the message sent out to all the Beat Merchants customers and supporters.

Hi Guys

With a tinge of sadness I’d like to in form you that Beat Merchants is closing our site here in Grey Lynn, Auckland at the end of January 2012. I say with only a tinge of sadness as we’re continuing in business with a more effective online presence in the New Year, pursuing our strength’s as far as product lines & aligning the operation with what we feel will work in the long term.

The real loss is that Auckland will lose one of the last surviving traditional independent record stores that we know and love. Below you’ll find the finer points, of what is happening in the short term. We’ll keep you updated as further developments come to hand. Most notably the exact date of the launching of our new online platform!

Thanks for ALL the support over the last 5 years. It’s very important to remember the message is one of new beginnings and a transformation for us, not the further demise of the Art & music culture’s that we hold so dear.

This is an exciting new era for the business, please spread the word, we value your smiling faces & patronage!

We are taking the opportunity to not renew our lease, and have taken exciting steps towards opening an ecommerce website to cater for the growing demand in people that prefer to shop online.

The last day at our current site in Grey Lynn is January 25, 2012

Normal trading hours will continue throughout.

Voucher holders: ALL outstanding vouchers will be redeemable & valid throughout.

Our new premises are located at 377 New North Road. Kingsland 1021
The site is an office space, however By Appointment our customers will be able to still come up and grab Graffiti Art & Music supplies! All our range will be viewable, with the option to allocate (for office payment & COD) OR pay online, via a secure website transaction.
