Born in Cairo/Egypt and raised in Herne, a city in West Germany, it only took Jasmin about two decades of travelling the world till she first discovered Aotearoa in 2002 and quickly decided that she likes it here and extend her short holiday into a 6 months stay.
Back in Germany, Jazz moved to a bigger city, called Cologne, where she did her Masters degree in Media Management & Media Production.
While studying, Jasmin worked in different media areas such as print, TV and radio, till in 2006, she somehow ended up in New Zealand again, working for George FM and writing a gianormus thesis about "The structure and cultural influence of radio in New Zealand".
Doing a bit of everything at George from scheduling to events & promotion, Jazz soon realized that she was much more interested in its urban lil` sister station, BASE FM.
Jazz started running the station and purchased it in May 2008. From her own mouth "I'm trying to give it lots of support & enthusiasm, a bit of structure, guidance & some much needed German efficiency (I just can't help it) as well as a lot of heart sweat, anger attacks & mental breakdowns. But I love it. It's so much fun and I wouldn't swap it for the world. ...actually, that's tempting...hmmm... . Yeah, nah!".
Besides all the Base & music business, Jasmin loves travelling and exploring new cultures & languages. She also loves her two kittens - or all animals, really -, has a gift for drawing, likes writing and playing guitar, enjoys going out and meeting new people or catching up with friends and can't resist a good game of tennis.
"Kids? ...holy shit, I've got 75 DJs, why would I need kids - same thing?!"
In the mid 90s Dylan C didn't have a turntable and wasn't listening to Nas, Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde, G-Funk or the Wu Tang Clan.
Instead, he had a Marshall stack and was the guitarist in Te Puke's greatest death metal band "Fatal Abuse" (true story). Carcass, Sepultura & Obituary were the artists of the day.
After witnessing Slayer conquer the Auckland Town Hall in '95, he decided it was time to move on. The next day he traded in his Cannibal Corpse collection for Dj Krush "Turntablized" & Tricky's "Maxinquaye". The beats were dark, the vocals minimal and this gradually let to an appreciation of all things trip hop and eventually drum & bass.
After completing a Bachelor of Music in Composition & Production he followed his calling to the nations Capital just as the D&B and roots movement in Wellington were starting to bloom. The Drop hadn't recorded anything yet, Trinity were recording their 1st EP, Bass Frontiers were nursing the subculture @ Studio 9, Matterhorn & Fidels were in their pre-renovated states and Giles Peterson set the standard for diverse and informative radio shows via RadioActive.
After moving to Auckland in 2003, he decided to start collecting some vinyl bits and pieces - Bfm & Rakinos were his apprenticeship. He defected to BASE FM during its first few weeks on air and has held on to the Saturday afternoon spot, 2-4pm, ever since.
The Headspace is an eclectic 2 hour journey through Ninja Jazz, Funk & Reggae, Downtempo, Blunted Hip Hop, Dubstep & classic Drum & Bass.
Regular gigs around town has seen him play at Rakinos (Loop Sessions residency), Blowfish, Tabac, Malt, Verona, Aveia and Suite among others. Dj support slots include The Blackseeds/Opensouls @ The St James, Rhythm & Vines main stage 2006/2007, Splore 2006, Lothlorien Rhythm Festival 2006 & 2007 and numerous dj sets up at The Leigh Sawmill.
He still doesn't own turntables & his most prized possession is a custom 70's Fender Strat.

Edgar is the newest edition to the Base Fm team, and as the baby of the office he has other responsibilities outside of keeping the average age down.
Edgar understands the responsibility of his job as sales manager here at Base Fm. With a background in Sales, a good understanding of the industry and a Diploma in Music & Event Management, he’s ready to represent the station.
‘Base has a recent but proud history I was a fan before I started working here and I still am a fan’.
Having a passion for music for as long as he can remember, growing up listening to a mix of his parents’ records and music that he was introduced to him through the years. With both his parents being musicians it was hard to ignore music.
As frontman M.C / Rapper for Auckland based underground hip hop band Eddie Numbers, he spends any spear time writing and working at his own music.
Edgar also enjoying drinking, sports and all other great kiwi pass times.
Base Breakfast News Team (weekdays)
This trio of ladies keep breakfast host Chip Matthews on his toes each weekday morning, alternating days so to get things fresh & interesting. Each person brings their own personality & style to the station. A little bit more about the ladies of Base Breakfast (in order off appearance).

Renee (Monday & Thursday)
Renee is a newbie to the music industry having just finished her certificate in DJing and Electronic Music Production at MAINZ. Originating from Whangarei she made the big shift to Auckland to study and get involved in music any which way she could and what better way than BaseFM. Her interests lie in music (of course) fashion and dance. Find a girl in a club that’s playing sweet tunes wearing an eye-catching outfit that is tearin’ up the d-floor and you’ve found her. Other than that you can catch her reading the news Monday and Thursday mornings alongside Dyl.C and Chip Matthews.

Rebekah (Tuesday & Wednesday)
Rebekah first discovered Base FM online when she was living in The Philippines and feeling like she needed a taste of home. She would often crawl home at 4am and hold a bit of an afterparty while streaming the Base breakfast show live. Rebekah now writes and reads the news for the Tuesday and Wednesday breakfast shows as well as bringing you a gig guide. When she's not doing the news she's writing for her blog tinythrills.blogspot.com, writing for the Base website and bringing up Base FM's biggest little fan.
Kahu (Friday)
Kahurangi Carter has considered herself a Basehead since she was a young buck still stomping around Auckland Uni and is not embarrassed to admit she was a total Base FM DJ stalker in her younger years. Now of course older and a far more mature, married mother of two she feels pretty special to be considered part of the Base Fm whanau. You can catch Kahu on the Friday Morning Breakfast Show bringing you the news according to her and on the occasional promo. She’s a pretty friendly lady who prides herself on being surrounded by the stunning wahine of Aotearoa, including our other Base News ladies and the Queen Bee Jazz herself.
